Sun-soaked afternoon hikes, stately sitting rooms and a peaceful atmosphere made Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario the perfect weekend escape just outside of the city.

If you've ever used a lino-cutter to carve your own stamps, you'll probably get a kick out of these cute wood-handled picnic tools from Opinel + Fricote!
Packaged in a classic red and white checkered towel and tucked into a funny fake sandwich box, the aptly titled "Kit Sandwich" would make a cheerful surprise for anyone who enjoys lunch en plein air :)

{Thursday} Terrific Terrariums
Thursday, 12 July 2012
For the apartment dweller who may lack the space (or skills) to cultivate a full container garden, a low-maintenance terrarium may be just the thing to inject some greenery into your home.
The process is fairly simple -- selecting a unique container; layering rocks, Spanish moss, and potting soil; and then arranging a collection of small plants and objects inside the container to your liking. But if you're more of a social learner like me, ARTiculations (an art venue in the Junction) is hosting the Miracle Thieves for a terrarium building workshop on Wednesday, July 25th from 7-9 pm. The cost is $30.00 per person and the event is a fun way to spend a girls' or date night out while making use of all those quirky Kinder Surprise toys you've accumulated over the years.

Not sure if you ready to take on the responsibility of plant ownership? Well you're in luck since Oregon-based stationary shop Quill & Fox offers a beautiful collection of terrarium postcards too.
Priced at $2.25/each or a set of 4 for $8.00, these full colour prints on matte-coated white card stock would look lovely framed and displayed in a library, sun nook, or wherever else your future terrarium may live.
Until next time, happy planting!

Fashion Friday: Kate Moss for Mango
Friday, 1 June 2012
When I saw how lovely Kate Moss looked as the newest Mango cover girl, I marched straight into my local store to get a closer peek! Although I find the distinctive doyenne a bit too edgy for the high street fashion retailer, I love the carefree Paris-chic styling by Geraldine Saglio for the brand's spring/summer 2012 collection. Featuring washed out whites, creamy pastels, and subtle prints, the relaxed pieces make a compelling argument for a laid back summer spent lounging in cafes and by the sea instead of in bold, punchy colours on the city streets.
The complementary collection opts for a natural palette too, albeit in deeper colours befitting a very well-styled trek through the dessert.

What do you think of Mango's S/S 12 collection? Are there any pieces that you would like to add to your collection? (I'm coveting look number 5 and 6!)
